Open data: livability scores by neighbourhood in Italy

127 neighbourhoods, 5 cities, 111 metrics. Free, no account, citable with attribution.

The scores on this page are computed from official open sources and are already published free of charge on the neighbourhood pages. Here they are given in machine-readable form, dated, with the method stated.

How much it varies within one city

The overall score separates neighbourhoods little within a city; the categories separate them a lot. The table below shows, for each city, the gap between the highest and the lowest neighbourhood. That is the number worth quoting: not the total, but services.

CityNeighbourhoodsOverall scoreServicesSafetyEnvironmentTransport
Roma5516,948,428,225,830,5

Torino2813,928,726,915,717,3
Milano175,928,67,85,34,1

The figures are the gap between the highest and the lowest neighbourhood in the same city (points on a 0-100 scale).

Three numbers not to be confused

Catalogue metrics are always 111. Metrics applicable to an address range from 105 to 111: some make no sense at that location. Measured metrics are those for which data actually arrived. In the file the three are separate columns.

What this data does not say

It is not a ranking between cities. The set of applicable metrics changes from city to city (108-111 out of 111), so two scores from different cities are not the same computation. The file is meant for ordering WITHIN one city.

Some categories measure the municipality, not the neighbourhood. In Milan natural stability is identical across all 17 zones. In the file a `grana` column marks this as `comunale` row by row: publishing them alongside the others without saying so would suggest they were measured per neighbourhood.
